Sir Ralph de WHALE was born in 1022 in Normandy, France. He died in 1075 in Caen, Normandy, France. The cause of death was Died of Woundsin battle with William the Conqueror. Sir Ralph was a Norman Land Baron in Normandy, France.
Sir Ralph De Whale appears to have held estates at present day Swindon in Wiltshire. He had additional holdings at Andover in Hampshire and at Shaftesbury in Dorset. Sir Richard De Whale had grants at Hawkshurst, near Hastings, and at Cuckfield. Sir Phillip De Whale had his largest estate at Maidstone in Kent and a smaller holding at Cuckfield. Sir Arthur DeWhale(nguile) had holdings at Welwyn in Hertfordshire, Chelmsford In Essex, at Chesterfield in Darbyshire and at Uttoxeter in Staffordshire, the latter being the largest of all the estates. However, it was in Ireland more than England, at least for Sir Arthur De Whale(nguile), that the De Whale star was to shine, ...
