Andrew Turnbull born 11 Nov 1827 in Hownam, Scotland (or possibly Henham?) married Elizabeth Wilson around 1860. She was born 18 Feb 1841 in Norham, Northumberland. Their children:
James, born 9 Feb 1861 in Ford, Northumberland; Janet, born Feb/Mar 1864 in Ford, Northumberland; Robert S., born 13 Apr 1865 in Chatton, Northumberland; Ellen, born 14 Apr 1868 in Fowberry Mains, Chatton (my great-great grandma); Margaret, born about 1870 in Chatton
They seem to have immigrated to Canada in 1873 and settled in Doe Lake, Ryerson, Parry Sound District, Ontario. Then they had twins, Andrew R., born 16 Sep 1873 in Ontario; Henry Hall, born 16 Sep 1873 in Ontario; Isabella, born 14 Jul 1877 in Ontario. Elizabeth died 4 Jan 1880, and Andrew Sr. died 23 Sep 1919. From census records he was a shepherd in the Old Country and a farmer in Canada.
In the 1871 England census there was a visitor living with the family, an Andrew Turnbull aged 15 (also a shepherd), who was born in Morebattle, Scotland. I am indebted to Albert Turnbull for finding a record of young Andrew's baptism on 21 March 1856 in Morebattle to a Hall Turnbull and Isabella Cowans. As Hall is a rare name, and appears in both families, we think they were related.

I was wondering if anyone knew who Alexander Armstrong (the 1st Lord of Mangerton)'s parents were? So far, I'm pretty sure I can trace my 7G Grandmother, Mary Armstrong (1742-1780 from New York) to this point. If this makes sense to anyone, let me know!
I'm looking through the Armstrongs, too, and would appreciate some information if you have it. My great great grandmother was Catherine Gertrude Armstrong. She married Peter Strong from Mount Melleck. Would you be linked in any way?
