I am tracing the history of Benedict Dappen who came to America in approx 1850 from Bern Switzerland. I have no clue as to his ancestors. If anyone out there can help me locate or provide any information on him i would really appreciate it.
I am Dennis Gottier. I am hoping there are some Gottiers still living in Arni near Biglen Bern who may know, or are decended from my progenators in that area. My great-great-great grandfather was Johannes Ulrich Gottier born about 1775-1780, his wife was Maria Kuhn. My great-great grandfather was Johannes Ulrich Gottier born 1800 and his wife was Katharina Flukiger, my great-grandfather was Johannes Chester Gottier born 1827 and his wife was Barbara Moser. My Grandfather Eduard was born in Arni in 1864. He had 4 older brothers; Johannes, Christian ( who died in infancy), Chester H., and Gottlieb. Chester H., Gottlieb and my grandfather Eduard emigrated to the United States in 1882.
My maternal grandmother was Anna Wermuth, Her father was Ollie Wermuth born 1842 near Rothenbach and her mother was Barbara Steiner. I know she had a younger sister Rosa who remained in Switzerland. Anna's first husband was Ulrich Fankhauser also born in the Rothenbach area about 1865, he died 1902 a few years before Anna emigrated to the United States.
Any information you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
