Is there anybody who has the surname of Moore? I realise that this is a very common name but I’m in search of my great grand mother's family. I'm trying to find information in relation to my great grandmother, Elizabeth Moore; she was born in Abbeyleix, Co. Laois. On her marriage certificate, in 1886 it stated her father's residence as Abbeyleix, Co. Laois and that her father's name was Robert and he was a shop keeper. Elizabeth was a Protestant, I'm unsure of her exact date of birth probably 1863. I know that she had at least one sister called Mary, a National School Teacher who moved to Killenaule, Co. Tipperary and married a Mr Smith. Elizabeth could have had more siblings but I'm not aware of any. After converting to Catholicism, she married my great grandfather Edmund Hall b1859-1927 [a farmer from Co. Tipperary] in 1886, in Lismore, Co. Waterford. They lived in Killenaule, Co. Tipperary were they had 11 children. Edmund (Ned) c1887-1960 Robert [Bobby] 1888-1964 John [Jack] 1890-1970 James [Jim] 1891-1960 Patrick [Paddy] 1893-1960 George 1894-1895 Mary 1896-1896 Michael 1897-1975 - my grandfather Margaret [Maggie] 1899-1980 Thomas 1900-1974 George 1909-1975 All I know about Elizabeth as that she was a shirtmaker by trade and in the erly 1900's she became a certified midwife. She died in 1955 at the grand old age of 92. I would be grateful for any information on Elizabeth in regards to her family on her mother or father's side. Many thanks Sinead
From cemetery records I have I found a Moore in Abbeyleix, but I have no way of telling if they are related to yours, but one being a shirtmaker and the other being a tailor ??

Many thanks for replying to my post. I have no idea of what kind of a business my great great grandfather had. I would like to presume that he was in the drapery business as he's daughter (my great grandmother) was a shirt maker by trade.
Is there any books or listing of business on the abbeyleix area in around 1840's to 1900's? that i can source/obtain?
Many thanks for your help to date, greatly appreciated. Can you tell me the name of the Church of Ireland that's in Abbeyleix, as the family I'm talking about where protestants
Many thanks,
Sinead
